    Abstract:

    Based on the emergency assessment and investigation of building damage in Yushu earthquake,the earthquake damage of masonry building has been analyzed.Most of the shortcomings can be summarized as the following that grid and column was not constructed according to the standard;prefabricated floor was adopted;the masonry was the native concrete hollow block;building construction quality is poor.Furthermore,several seismic fortification measures and suggestions about reconstruction are proposed in this paper as follow avoiding using concrete hollow block as load bearing brick;strengthening constructional measures of door and window openings,avoiding adopting prefabricated floor;strengthening conceptual design of staircase and anchoring between nonstructural elements.
