The maximum graphite size in cast irons with different volumes was predicted by the method of statistics of extreme value(SEV),and the fatigue strength was further predicted by utilizing the result of SEV. It is shown from this study that with increasing the predicted volume the sizes of the maximum graphite increase,while the fatigue strength decrease.
