With the development of regional integration, the advancement of transportation technologies and the increasing housing cost, the phenomenon of “Jobs-Housing Separation” becomes more common. Hong Kong has a large population density, a high housing cost and a highly-developed public transport system. Its residents' choice of housing location and commuting pattern is getting more diversified as well. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the two unconventional cross-border commuting patterns in Hong Kong, and to explain the causes, characteristics and suggestions for improvement, in order to provide a new perspective for the study of spatial behavior and “Jobs-Housing Separation”.
