College English teaching reforms,aiming to enrich the teaching resources and develop the learners'potentials,are raising new demands to the teacher's professional development.This paper analyzed the main factors which barrier the college English teaching and learning,supposed some devises to perfect the teachers'knowledge structure,update the teaching approaches and benefit by learning from the learners as well as make use of the concepts summarized by the American English teachers'association.
