This thesis first gave a look over the origin and development of the theory of equivalence in translation.Then,a conclusion can be drawn after the analysis of the criticism towards this theory: equivalence only applies to one or certain levels between the target language and source language.The concept of equivalence here in translation is different from that in math.Equivalence should be the goal of all translators.
