Alliteration in English poetry consists of alliteration in Old English poetry and that in Modern English poetry.Alliteration in Modern English poetry includes vowel alliteration and consonantal alliteration,the latter of which can be subdivided into twelve minor types based on six standards.Alliteration has changed a lot formally since the Anglo-Saxon period dominated by Old English poetry,its rules become looser and looser,and its forms more and more varied.
