At the end of elective movemnet of annual Chinese character which launched by tianya net forum, "zhang(涨)”won the election with high votes and become the annual Chinese character. And this is the secondtime that "zhang(涨)“ has achieved this title ever since the year 2007. This paper analyzes the pattern, sound,meaning and the development of the character "zhang(涨)“，from the perspective of etymology and philology tohelp readers better understand the background knowledge of this character.
