This paper attemps to construal the terms of adderss from the novel A Dream of Red Mansions by using Langacker's CRP (Cognitive Reference Point) theory. Based on the concept that terms of adderss can be attributed to the personal reference, the author classifies all the terms into three subcategories, i.e. proper nouns, definite descriptions and pronouns. The ananysis has been conducted with the viewpoints of addressee and addresser separately. After a discussion, the paper emphasizes the value of CRP in interpreting the implications of the addressing terms.
