Kong Yiji is a representative of Lu Xun's short novels, which is also one of his earliest works translated into Japanese. Many famous Japanese translators have translated it. This paper checks Jingshang Hongmei's version with Lu Xun's original work, finding several misinterpretations which lead to mistranslation or no-translation. This paper attempts to discuss the translator's role in translation through analyzing the cases in Jingshang's version. The translator is both a culture transmitor and a controller of translation. In translation, translator should adhere to the original work's style and meaning, make no over-interpretation, and not impose on the reader. Only in this way can a translator make good control, avoid mistakes and guarantee the translation quality.
