Zheng zhenduo was a prominent translator in the May Fourth New Literature Movement.He provided relatively mature viewpoints for long-time disputable issues on translation.He was the first translator who introduced Tytler's "three principles of translation",and emphasized that translation must be faithful to the original text in the content.Besides,he demonstrated the translatability of literature works,called on the unification of the literary terms,advocated the Europeanization of language,further discussed the translator's responsibility and commented the contemporary history of literary translation in China.His translation thoughts provided guidelines for the construction of translation theories at his time.
