At present, our country needs emerging engineering talents in the background of new technology, new industry and new economics. The newly built local undergraduate universities should adapt its cultivation of the apllied talents for the need of emerging engineering talents. Based on the present condition of the applied talents cultivation in newly built local undergraduate universities, this paper expounds the problems about the talent training orientation, curriculum system, double-qualified teaching staff construction, practice teaching, teaching quality management and supervision and other aspects. Finally, it puts forward the corresponding suggestions and countermeasures on how to improve the talents cultivation.
