Abstract:The traditional method of foreign literature courses is designed to introduce the writers and their works according to the chronological order or the school/genre of literature, which is confined to a literature angle. Such a method is not enough to inspire the reader to think about the same problem of the same time or different times described by one or many writers. Following the principle of “cross-discipline”, we can reclassify the writers and their works from the perspective of “ law and literature”, “economy and literature”, “landscape and literature”, which can make the students have a wide sphere of vision and a deep understanding of the works. Focusing on the “law and literature”, this article will take The Jungle (written by Upton Sinclair) and China Men (written by Maxine Hong Kington) as examples to explore the new methods and ways in the teaching of foreign literature courses by using the new teaching method “flipped Classroom or inverted Classroom”.
