Humanistic quality is a crucial aspect of college students’ comprehensive quality, a prerequisite of comprehensive and creative talents. The significance of college students’ humanistic quality has been widely recognized in higher education circles. As a concise language art, English poetry can exert a far-reaching influence on the cultivation of humanistic quality and cross-cultural communication ability of college students. After analyzing the characteristics of English poetry and the important roles it plays in the humanistic quality education of college students, this article suggests a full integration of English poetry into college students' daily life through repeated reading, translation of English and Chinese poetry, comparison and contrast of English and Chinese poetry as well as the university poetry culture construction. The infiltration of English poetry has a subtle influence on cultivating college students’ deep cultural accomplishment and improving their humanistic quality.
