Su Shi is not only a dazzling star in ancient Chinese literature but also a famous gourmet,who created many poems about vegetable gardens and vegetables. These poems, with exquisite depicting skills and diverse topics,are actually the artistic reflection of his daily life in different stages. Some poems express his sense of homesickness,while others denote his emotions and longings via the description of vegetables. His poems on rural life have been a focus in academic field, which include those involving vegetable elements.So far,however,no one has paid attention to the vegetable poems of Su Shi; the thoughts of self-reliance in his vegetable poems are still a topic of little attention.In this sense, the vegetable poems can be a beautiful scenery in the study of Su Shi if more scholars are devoted in this area.
